You cans see a repair that was done. The square cement block at the bottom of one of the stones.

I believe the arrow shows the midwinter soltice viewing point, so you can view the sun through the stones

If you go to see stonehenge give yourself a couple of minutes to view the exhibit in the visitor center. There is a display that shows the different stages that stonehenge was built in by the different people over 1000 years.

You can get pretty close, but if you book ahead and get one of the Inner Circle or Special Access tours you actually get to go inside the circle of stones. My trip was short notice so they had sold out of those tours before I could book.

I had heard that you couldn't get that close to the rocks but it looks like you did get close to them.
